The I-5 Corridor is a place for stories about sports and other things in the state of Oregon, created by Tyson Alger. Stories are mailed to subscribers’ inboxes when published and also live here on I-5Corridor.com.
Who is Tyson Alger?
That’s me.
I’m from Alaska, went to school in Montana and have been making the commute from Portland to Eugene to cover Oregon and Pac-12 sports since 2014 for The Oregonian and then The Athletic.
I covered every game of Marcus Mariota’s Heisman-winning season, was there when a scrawny kid from Eugene with “Herbert” on his back made his debut out on the Palouse and chronicled Mario Cristobal’s conference-altering tenure with the Ducks.
This is mostly going to be an outlet to keep telling stories about those Ducks, with in-depth features, analysis and profiles on the coaches and players that make up the West Coast’s premier football program.
But the hope is that The I-5 Corridor will serve as a canvas for storytelling about anything stretching the 100 or so miles between Portland and Eugene, from the Beavers and Blazers to to the Thorns and Timbers.
And you’re charging money for this?
For most things, yes.
The I-5 Corridor features a free weekly podcast and the occasional story placed in front of the paywall.
