What an awesome atmosphere! When Howard went down on the last play everyone’s eyes went to the clock that showed 0:0. At that moment the stadium exploded in a celebration that I have not seen the likes of in watching 6 decades of Oregon football.
I thought for sure Oregon was going to experience a letdown after Holden Hauk-Tuah’d the corner. But they incredibly bounced back. (Multiple times) Amazing game. Amazing win and amazing celebration!
A bevy of magnificent punches, and counter punches thrilled the lucky 60ish thousand at The House of Loud, and for so many of the die hard Duck fans, the sheer multitude of wild swings of the “big ‘mo,” (monementum) caused many to wish they could steal a few pulls of the medical trainers oxygen mask. Hell, I don’t mind admitting I was one of ‘em! A superb showing by the two heavyweights of the Big10 on a fine Saturday at Autzen. Back-and-forth, to and fro, showering the millions watching with momentum changes of wild abundance. Generally in college football, a game may have at most a handful of those grand pendulum swings, and most often they typify as “wow moments”. This game had it in spades, and then some Henderson‘s big run had me thinking, here we go again, and it ain’t gonna be pretty! Then a funny thing happened. The Ducks 2024 version of Gang Green Part Deux came to rough up the blue bloods from the flatlands. Took a deep breath, hunkered down and put the hurt on Ohio State’s vaunted offense. This electrifying Ducks D hurried, harried, and harangued the scarlet and gray until they could play no more and the clocks tick-ticked in what seemed an interminable last minute and change. The incredulous look on Howard’s face as he realized the clock read 0:00 was fitting. Bewilderment and flummoxing disbelief flashed across his countenance as the realization set in…THE Ohio State had just lost. Coach Lanning’s face on the other hand, interviewed at midfield postgame by a reporter, was almost feral in intensity, blood running high, in fight or flight mode… I truly believe if given the chance, with zero hesitation, Lanning would’ve trucked somebody. Anybody. Hard. He was that juiced and completely lost in the moment. I know now who I’d pick to back me up in a back alley brawl. The One Dan Lanning, whose alter ego has been now been exposed….as The Manimal. Go Ducks!!!
Great article Tyson! Couldn’t believe it when Dan said in the post game presser that the squib kick kick-off to hit an OSU player was intentional! His explanation made sense though, short field and if they missed the player they were going to try to hold OSU to behind their 20 yard line. The worst outcome was OSU with the ball on their side of the 50.
And the 12th Man penalty was clinical in bending a rule to your situational advantage. Like I’ve never seen that intelligence from an Oregon staff ever.
Lannings wife’s name is spelled “Sauphia.” (Not trying to be a scold. It’s a great article and I believe writers like to have typos pointed out so they can correct them.)

I’ll upload more pics and vids from the scene in the AM, but my goodness, never experienced anything like that scene on the field.

Appreciate that, Keith. They've been here long enough, I should probably have that one down.
