BEAVERTON — Jack Jewsbury will have you think he’s getting too old for this.

A day before taking the pitch for the Green is Gold Charity Match, the former Portland captain spent his morning hanging around the Timbers’ training facility. The weather was hot and the Timbers spent much of their practice working on one-on-one matchups in close quarters with Jewsbury watching from the side.

“Go easy on Jack. It’s been a while,” team general manager Ned Grabavoy said before Jewsbury met with the media. “I don’t know how sharp he is.”

We’ll all soon find out.
