Happy Tuesday, all.
It’s a mailbag week. Submit your questions in the comments section here and I’ll answer the best ones in an upcoming column.
On the schedule for this week: I’ll be writing off the UO/Purdue game remotely on Friday, then heading up to Seattle on Saturday to cover the Sounders/Timbers match. I’ve yet to cover anything at Lumen Field in my career, so looking forward to that one.
Also, Dana Altman has his season-opening press conference in Eugene tomorrow. So feel free to fire off some hoops questions if that’s your jam.
It feels like Oregon is trying to force the ball to Herbert in crucial red zone situations the last few weeks instead of getting the ball to Ferg. I understand Herbert is a great blocker, but is it time to move on relying on him as a pass catcher?
Did you observe any interactions between Carlos Locklyn and the Oregon players or staff while covering the game on Saturday? When Locklyn left for Ohio State, it was painted as purely a business decision (i.e., $$$), but do you think there was a difference in philosophy or any other underlying issues?
Tyson, now that everyone seems to get to see the Northern Lights, what other Alaskan thing do you think will be stolen next? Eating ice cream when it's below freezing? Wearing Xtra-Tufs out and about? Frequenting any of about a thousand drive-up coffee stands? Your thoughts?
But in all seriousness, when do we think Sydney Sweeney finally calls The Duck back?
Are the rumours being floated - usually by the teams they have just beaten - true about Oregon having a $20 million 'payroll' via NIL? And if so and this continues, will fans become more jaded, less tolerant of failure? You know, the way we treat professional athletes?
Throughout Dana Altman‘s tenure at Oregon, his teams are quite often undervalued in the preseason polls. This seems to be a juxtaposition of sorts, in that Altman’s teams typically gel together at the right time and make a run in the big dance. This team seems to have the requisite talent. Is it that the hoops pundits/experts have lost faith in his late season wizardry, or that any meaningful success is too far in the distant rearview mirror? Shout out to you as well Tyson; love the sheer variety of content and in-depth forays of Oregon football!
I've asked this question before so, I'll repeat myself. Why doesn't some journalist interview Kelly Graves and ask some hard questions. Why are the majority of recruits underdeveloped, uninspired and end up transferring? How do small lower division schools routinely beat Oregon on the home floor? Why do you and other coaches seem so satisfied with coaching losing basketball and finishing last in the last year of the Pac12? I'm A donor, support Women In Flight and will be a Golden State Valkeries ticket holder. It disappoints me to see Kelly Graves so happy go lucky. Actually his appearance at the Big 10 opening was embarrassing. He's coasting. No journalist ever holds the man and his coaching staff accountable.
Ryan Day dies his beard, doesn't he?
Can you rank the top 3 most important Oregon regular season wins since you have been covering the team?
Dyes his beard..... sorry rough day yesterday.
How panicked do I need to be about Gabriel's red zone decision making?
What's Oregon doing to be so much better than where they started?
How can I ensure my in-laws don't visit during a big game again?

No one seems to be able to answer this, so I’m counting on you. Why haven’t the Ducks retired any numbers. At a minimum you would think #8 would be.
