I went to one of the Ducks first games at PK Park when the stadium wasn’t quite finished yet. Sat on aluminum bench seats & thought this stadium will be awesome once finished & will be full of happy fans.
I was very disappointed that the team didn’t attract the fans like it should have. I hate going to games vs the beavers & seeing more beaver fans than Duck fans. Fans are fickle but those that have showed up this year, have really supported this team. Horton’s teams were good but nothing like the current team. Pitching this year has been scary at times but I love to see Freshman develop into great pitchers & players. I think last night a few of the younger guys nerves got to them. The atmosphere was awesome & something non of the current players have ever seen at PK.
I really want this team to close it out tonight. They deserve to win. They have battled a lot this year & a trip to Omaha is so close... Go Ducks! This girl loves the long ball and this team.🦆💚💛
As an interested observer who enjoys, but doesn't "live" Ducks' Baseball, I am intrigued with the respect & reverence that is bestowed upon George Horton by current & former Ducks administrators. I know he was hired to accomplish a difficult task: to revive a 27-year dead program. And it seemed like in the beginning of his Oregon tenure, he was succeeding. But it also seemed like the program lost steam and he never was able to get the Ducks "over the hump" like he did in 2004 at CSU Fullerton. I'd be curious to know why.
