The I-5 FC: The Timbers have a keeper, the rest is still incomplete
While the Timbers await a DP signing, their new keeper took little time showing what he could do.
PORTLAND — I figured Phil Neville would have been a little bit more upset after Saturday.
For a moment, the Portland Timbers were really flying high. A week after a 4-1 debut against Colorado, the Timbers’ 2-0 lead in the second half against D.C. United had everyone looking through the history books. Fun fact: Santiago Moreno’s goal in the 61st minute marked the first time in club history the Timbers have opened the season with multiple goals in successive games.
Less fun fact: Portland’s two-goal lead only held for the next 20 minutes as D.C. netted a penalty in the 72nd and an equalizer 10 minutes later.
