The show goes on: Dawson Jaramillo's farewell tour
The former Oregon Duck on his transfer, injury, recovery and being amongst the mullets.
Dawson Jaramillo still has the mullet, by the way.
The former Oregon offensive lineman wasn’t going to leave the hair behind him in Eugene, especially not as he moved to North Carolina — a place where he said he feels like he’s really starting to fit in.
“I met a guy Saturday at this barbecue place and he goes, ‘You know, I’ve never met someone from Oregon before. You look more like you’re from East Carolina,’” Jaramillo said Monday. “And I was like, well, maybe I finally made it to my homeland.”
Jaramillo never expected to finish his football career across the country. And he really didn’t see himself picking classes for a seventh year of college. We joked on the phone that at least Cam McCormick is still out there in his ninth season to take the brunt of the He’s still playing? media coverage.
“It’s funny. It’s like where’s the fence?” Jaramillo said. “Back in the day if someone came back for a fifth year it was like, dang, five years in college is a long time. Then it’s like six years. And, well, COVID was crazy, so it’s seven now. Tyler Shough is going for his seventh. That Oklahoma State kid is going for his seventh. Me. It’s just crazy.”
